WHERE ARE THE BLESSINGS? ARE OFFENCES AND CURSES IMPACTING YOUR LIFE?

Colossians 3:23

And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men,

24 knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance; for you serve the Lord Christ.

25 But he who does wrong will be repaid for what he has done, and there is no partiality.

 

This was the verse that struck me from my reading this morning.  It struck me because over the last two weeks the Lord has been showing me the impact of offences and curses on our life.  Where we create an offence or curse then the Lord recognises them and lets them operate until the issue is addressed.  This is what He is showing me through verse 25 above.  Due to the rules of nature operating here in the Spirit the Lord will let those offenses and curses take place as that is His nature to be impartial and He won’t interfere unless there is a legal right to and we have given Him that right to be involved. We can’t have free will and then expect there to be no consequences.

 

What happened this week to me in this area.

I had a contractual issue with a friend that I raised a few weeks ago with him and said that I need to sort this out as I feel it is impacting on me in the Spirit.  I couldn’t sort it out per the contract but I felt maybe there was other options that could be considered. By raising it I had at least acknowledged the issue in the Spirit and I wasn’t ignoring it which would leave a bigger opening for the enemy to operate.

This friend came to me about a week ago and said that he had a solution for this situation that he would like to run past me.  He had been praying about it and discussing it with the Lord.  He felt the Lord had told him that the Lord wanted him to sort it out as it was enabling a curse to operate in my life and also leading to a potential offence in my friend’s life.  The Lord also said to my friend that by this not being addressed it was holding back the blessings the Lord wished to see occur in my life as a curse was now operating.

So we have addressed and fixed this issue now and I do feel a freedom.  I know for a fact that this issue had to be addressed and it was impacting in the Spiritual.

The Lord was showing me where situations aren’t addressed then offenses and curses will be present if the situation creates them.  We can repent and lay them before the Lord but the situation still needs to be addressed as while it is still present it enables situations to build and be used by the enemy. This isn’t easy in all cases but it must be done.

 

Nehemiah 13:1

On that day they read from the Book of Moses in the hearing of the people, and in it was found written that no Ammonite or Moabite should ever come into the assembly of God,

2 because they had not met the children of Israel with bread and water, but hired Balaam against them to curse them. However, our God turned the curse into a blessing.

If someone curses you then it will carry in the Spirit and needs to be addressed.  You may have no idea of specific curses playing a role in your life but we can pray in those cases for forgiveness and for God to turn unknown sins and offenses we have caused to be addressed and turned to good.

If we however know of a situation still operating in our life then get in and fix it contractually in the spirit and with whoever the offence has been created with.

 

The Lord warns us about offenses in both the new and Old Testament as He wants us to know that these create real issues in our life.

2 Corinthians 6:3

We give no offense in anything, that our ministry may not be blamed.

Matthew 18:7

“Woe to the world because of offenses! For offenses must come, but woe to that man by whom the offense comes!

It doesn’t get any more plainer than this.

 

Another word the Lord gave us was around how our actions can cause others to create an offence.

There was a situation where we were going to do an action which was no issue in itself and was a standard sort of decision.  The Lord however said to us I don’t want you to do that as it won’t impact you but it will cause another man to create an offence against someone else and He didn’t want that curse on that man’s life.

WOW this is how serious this stuff is and why the Lord prewarns us through scripture about the power of offenses.

How often have we done something that causes someone else to go and create an offense in their lives?  Our Lord loves us and loves them so much he doesn’t want this occurring as He knows how seriously damaging this is to people in the Spirit and the blessings it holds back from us in the kingdom.

 

Luke 17:1

Then He said to the disciples, “It is impossible that no offenses should come, but woe to him through whom they do come!

2 “It would be better for him if a millstone were hung around his neck, and he were thrown into the sea, than that he should offend one of these little ones.

3 “Take heed to yourselves. If your brother sins against you, rebuke him; and if he repents, forgive him.

4 “And if he sins against you seven times in a day, and seven times in a day returns to you, saying, ‘I repent,’ you shall forgive him.”

Do you have anyone you need to forgive?  Don’t carry an offence inside you as it is not healthy.  Our temple is impacted and we don’t have as clean a biding place as we could have.

 

Romans 16:17

Now I urge you, brethren, note those who cause divisions and offenses, contrary to the doctrine which you learned, and avoid them.

Do you know anybody who causes divisions and offenses? Avoid them! But if you can’t, pray for them, love them but don’t let them taint you or cause offense in you or allow them room to have offense against you.

Don’t let your blessings be held back.

 

Philippians 1:9

And this I pray, that your love may abound still more and more in knowledge and all discernment,

10 that you may approve the things that are excellent, that you may be sincere and without offense till the day of Christ

Here is a prayer for us in this area that we should pray.  Let us have knowledge and discernment so that we can be without offense.

 

Our Lord wants us walking as we should in full power and blessings.

If you have offenses or curses operating and you know you have areas you haven’t addressed then I encourage you to get about addressing them.  You make the first step and then see where the Lord leads you.  By making the first step then the enemy can’t say you aren’t doing something about it.

If you are holding something back or not addressing something that could free someone else up in this area then go and make the first step and help them be free from their offenses and curses.

An action is needed!

I have had to over the last few years go and address a lot of areas in my life and deal with a lot of difficult issues and people.  The Lord wanted me to do this as He wanted me to walk in bigger blessings and He wanted me to understand the warfare I would come against if I didn’t address these situations now and in the future.  He has also been teaching me to take actions that don’t give any opportunity for offense.  He has been giving me knowledge and discernment to walk in more blessings.
