I was recently struck by the reality that Jesus was the only one that walked on the earth without sin.

Did He have emotions? Did He have challenges? Did He walk under the same pressures as us?

Yes He did but He still remained sinless. What an example.

With all the darkness around Him (as there is darkness around us) He walked in light. What a position to aim for. He is in us and when we have darkness in us through sin, does it reduce who He is as light? No it doesn’t reduce Him but it reduces us, as it just becomes a place He cant be fully in us. We all sin at some point {as only Jesus walked without sin) and this creates darkness in us. When we repent (do repentance with communion whenever you can), His blood washes us clear of that sin and His light shines through us again and we can walk as we are meant to walk fully in Him.

The Lord has been showing me a lot on light and darkness recently as He works on me to remain as light and to knock any darkness out.  That is an ongoing walk for me as it is for all of us.

John 1:4-5

In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. 5 And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it.

The enemy (sin) can not comprehend the light.  There is no answer to Jesus’s light shining in us. He tells me to live in the house of repentance as He wants to know His light shines right through me and there is no room for darkness to take hold. If you are in a situation that needs change or breakthrough, then take a moment to repent of known and unknown sins as repentance maybe what is missing for the breakthrough.

We all have His light

John 1:9

That was the true Light which gives light to every man coming into the world.

1 Peter 2:9

But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvellous light;

He wants us walking in His light as this is what enables the taking of His kingdom on earth because where there is His light there is no room for darkness.

We are the light

1 Thessalonians 5:5

You are all sons of light and sons of the day. We are not of the night nor of darkness.

Philippians 2:14-15

Do all things without complaining and disputing, 15 that you may become blameless and harmless, children of God without fault in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world,

Matthew 5:14-16

“You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 “Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. 16 “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.

We partner with the Lord and this partnership enables the light to shine on the hill.  When were you last in a situation where someone said to you there is something different about you? They noticed the light shining in you.

I was in the office this week working with a colleague and something wasn’t going well.  I must have been wearing the situation because my colleague turned around to someone else in the office and said I believe Darren just about swore then.  I had held my tongue. This made me realise that the way we walk is noticed by those around us. Those that know us are looking at the light and there is an expectation of what that light looks like in the secular world. How easy it would have been for me to have let my tongue go in the circumstances. I don’t get it right all the time but this highlighted to me the importance of how I walk.

His light is in the world through us and the way we walk

John 8:12

Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, “I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.”

John 9:5

“As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.”

As long as we have His light in us, He is in the world.  If no one on earth had His light in them would he be here?

Ephesians 5:8

For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light

Why would we restrict His presence in the world because of the way we are walking. His grace is new every morning so we get to be cleansed and start out with His light fully in us. I remember reading the story of the person who talked about not being in sin on a morning but then they mentioned they hadn’t got out of bed yet.

Matthew 6:22-23

“The lamp of the body is the eye. If therefore your eye is good, your whole body will be full of light. 23 “But if your eye is bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in you is darkness, how great is that darkness!

What are we looking at, what are we listening to, what are we speaking?  Do we allow darkness in?  When we allow this darkness in, this is something the enemy can use in the courtroom against us as we have allowed justification to an argument and it will hinder a prayer or breakthrough we are seeking or it will mean maybe a blessing that the Lord has for us can’t be released. Repent allow the light to replace the darkness and as Jesus said to the woman “go and sin no more”. Easily said but this is where our walk becomes important. Is darkness what is holding you back from something you are expecting at the moment?

James 1:17

Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning.

The Father of lights doesn’t make an exception for you, He doesn’t change or vary just for you, therefore get the darkness out as He can’t release where there is darkness.

Let’s be alive so His light shines through us.

Ephesians 5:14

Therefore He says: “Awake, you who sleep, Arise from the dead, And Christ will give you light.”

Psalms 112:4

Unto the upright there arises light in the darkness; He is gracious, and full of compassion, and righteous.

Psalms 97:11

Light is sown for the righteous, And gladness for the upright in heart.

When we are alive, we walk in Him and His light shines.

This precept of light shining through us comes through the bible again and again as it is fundamental for our strength, our blessings, our breakthrough, our authority and Kingdom position.

Psalms 112:4

Unto the upright there arises light in the darkness; He is gracious, and full of compassion, and righteous.

The Lord so wants us walking in His light, with His light in us. We become unstoppable in that situation and it is like having an eternal set of armour on that can’t be penetrated.

What are you doing that needs to change that is restricting the full light to outshine the darkness?

Let’s focus on changing that practice.

As I finish, I get a vision (as per the biblical verse) of the enemy walking around seeking who he can devour.  But when he sees someone fully in the Lord, the light is so powerful, he realises he can’t get in there so he curses and moves on. He can’t leverage into that person or put a wedge in as they are shining light.”

Let’s shine the light.
