The Lord has given a word to me a couple of times in the last few years where he has said “you need to live in the house of repentance for these times”.
Now that seems very dramatic and I am aware of the need for repentance but in the last week He has been really bringing this more to mind. He wants me to understand something.
In my reading this morning He told me to go to Ezekiel and He highlighted repentance to me further in chapter 18.
Ezekiel 18:24
“But when a righteous man turns away from his righteousness and commits iniquity, and does according to all the abominations that the wicked man does, shall he live? All the righteousness which he has done shall not be remembered; because of the unfaithfulness of which he is guilty and the sin which he has committed, because of them he shall die.
Wow I immediately also had the following verse come to mind
Luke 9:62
But Jesus said to him, “No one, having put his hand to the plough, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God.”
So I felt like He was saying that I can’t live on my past righteousness. I can’t look back to that and rely on that position I stood in. If I have gone off track into sin and wickedness then the righteousness of the past won’t fix this current position.
It is about the position I am in today.
A bit of a in your face set of verses and it is about now I am thinking this is tough.
But then you move down a few verses in Ezekiel 18 and the solution appears.
18:30 “Therefore I will judge you, O house of Israel, every one according to his ways,” says the Lord GOD. “Repent, and turn from all your transgressions, so that iniquity will not be your ruin.”
Verse 24 tells us that our righteousness and good work to date can be forgotten if we then sin and go to wickedness
But there is a solution in verse 30
That is to repent and let the blood of Jesus do the work
Live in the house of repentance so that every day we are clean and stand in righteousness with the work done by the blood.
In this position we give no room to the claims of the enemy
1 Timothy 5:14
Therefore I desire that the younger widows marry, bear children, manage the house, give no opportunity to the adversary to speak reproachfully.
15 For some have already turned aside after Satan.
Don’t be ignorant but understand that if you sin today afresh you give opportunity to the adversary and he will claim that in the courtroom today and bring it against you.
This is why the Lord has said to me live in the house of repentance. I am not sinless everyday (actually no days in reality) and He knows that the adversary will bring claims against me. This is even more so if I am working more for the kingdom and breaking ground and aligning my works with the will of God.
Ezekiel 18 continued
31 “Cast away from you all the transgressions which you have committed, and get yourselves a new heart and a new spirit. For why should you die, O house of Israel?
32 “For I have no pleasure in the death of one who dies,” says the Lord GOD. “Therefore turn and live!”
Cast away the transgressions through the blood of Jesus so there is no claims that can be upheld against you so that you can live.
Don’t underestimate the power of the blood and repentance
I had a recent experience which just expanded my mind in this area.
I have a very difficult business colleague who continued to cause great concern and pain to customers and other staff within the team. He was someone I had to hold onto due to contractual relationships but the situation was driving me to great frustration.
I asked the Lord how do I fix this situation? This person does not know the Lord but the Lord still loves him. I said to the Lord I bind the demonic up around this individual every morning in prayer but that just doesn’t seem to work.
So the Lord then asked me “Are you taking communion?’
My answer was yes at church and occasionally elsewhere.
He said this man has an evil spirit upon him which is powerful and I want you to start taking communion every morning and evening and to stand in the gap for his sins. To repent for his sins morning and night. Then you will have the power to bind this spirit upon him.
So in obedience I did this and within two days I had the team saying to me what has happened to this staff member as he is a different guy something has changed for the better.
Now I would not have believed this or I would never have come up with this solution but God did.
The blood of Jesus overcame all.
As I reflect on that situation I realise there was something contractually I had with this person that enabled me to take this position in the Spirit. So this may not work in all cases. But think about how it might apply in your case.
I have continued taking the communions and I repent every day to cover the transgressions of myself. This is what it is like to live in the house of repentance and to give no room for the enemy to have claims.
This doesn’t mean there isn’t consequences of your sin that have to be managed but with repentance I am coming with white robes.
Luke 10:18
And He said to them, “I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven.”
19 “Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you.”
To walk in this power we need to be righteous cleansed by the blood of Jesus. Repent and do it constantly. It is not a burden but an opportunity to remember what Jesus did for us and the power we have because of it.
Isaiah 58:12
Those from among you
Shall build the old waste places;
You shall raise up the foundations of many generations;
And you shall be called the Repairer of the Breach,
The Restorer of Streets to Dwell In.
We rebuild the foundations for us now and for future generations and we do it from a foundation of being cleansed by the blood of Jesus.
He shared another word a while ago where he said “remember as the level of anointing increases on you the level of potential access of the enemy increases. You are more in the light and the adversary is looking for claims.”
When we are doing things in the kingdom the enemy wants to stop you.
As my walk in Him increases and I grow in His anointing I will live in the house of repentance daily. I will not give any room for claims to hold ground.
I want to be like Jesus at the end of His life where he said in
John17:4
“I have glorified You on the earth. I have finished the work which You have given Me to do.”
