Proverbs 23:10
Do not remove the ancient landmark,
Nor enter the fields of the fatherless;
11 For their Redeemer is mighty;
He will plead their cause against you.
This is one of those verses which has always intrigued me as to what it means and what is the importance of it. Over the last few weeks the Lord has been given me verses and messages around this topic.
I am starting to understand the importance of landmarks to our family and descendants. Also the importance of what our ancestors have done before us. When you work through the bible there is an incredible amount of information on these areas as the Lord values what you do and the impact on your family.
What He showed me is that if I was stepping into someone else’s territory then I was impacting on their families’ landmarks and what has been appointed for them. So don’t remove the ancient landmark. Now these landmarks may have been established by work done by their ancestors and God will defend them due to promises made to His children in the past.
2 Kings 8:19
Yet the LORD would not destroy Judah, for the sake of His servant David, as He promised him to give a lamp to him and his sons forever.
David was a classic example of this generational impact where David so pleased the Lord that blessings passed down to His children and ancestors.
If we remove the ancient landmark (someone else’s territory) then the Lord will plead the case against you which is what He is telling us in Proverbs 23:10.
You may feel jealous or envious of someone and you try to step into their territory. You need to understand this is a dangerous thing to do as it is the Lord who establishes the boundaries. He has established your landmarks so stay in those.
Deuteronomy 19:14
“You shall not remove your neighbour’s landmark, which the men of old have set, in your inheritance which you will inherit in the land that the LORD your God is giving you to possess.
Men of old our ancestors/fathers.
Proverbs 22:28
Do not remove the ancient landmark
Which your fathers have set.
Deuteronomy 17:17
‘Cursed is the one who moves his neighbour’s landmark.’ “And all the people shall say, ‘Amen!’
Precept on Precept He tells us this important point.
Why does The Lord teach us this?
Because as we move into God’s plan for this season in His timeline we are going to come into more and more blessings and our brothers and sisters around us will come into more and more. It would be so easy to become jealous and to step into another man’s landmark territory. He is warning us don’t do but instead focus on our landmarks.
It is also a time where we are stepping into more and more and what we do now and how we walk in this time sets further landmarks for our descendants to come so be about the work. Do the work in a way that is blameless and righteous so that the landmarks are not moveable backwards in the generations to come. Let our children’s children see that we have done the work in this season for the Kingdom, so that they can stand in this territory and grow from here.
Acts 17:26
“And He has made from one blood and every nation of men to dwell on all the face of the earth, and has determined their preappointed times and the boundaries of their dwellings,
Jesus has paid the price for us to dwell together as one but within that we have preapointed times and boundaries which our free will can impact. You need to seek Him and look to stay in the place you are meant to be. The Lord wants you to achieve all that is written in your book and that which has been agreed upon. That is where these boundaries come from. He can bless you in this space and stop the enemies’ impact when you are working where you are meant to be, doing what you are meant to be doing, glorifying God and doing it in a blameless way.
The Blessing is on our generation and our descendants
Deuteronomy 8:9
“Therefore know that the LORD your God, He is God, the faithful God who keeps covenant and mercy for a thousand generations with those who love Him and keep His commandments;
He blessed David’s descendants even though some of their actions were sinful. There was a blessing and set of landmarks established for David’s family.
We impact in our own generation
Genesis 7:1
Then the LORD said to Noah, “Come into the ark, you and all your household, because I have seen that you are righteous before Me in this generation.
We impact in the next generation
Psalm 22:30
A posterity shall serve Him.
It will be recounted of the Lord to the next generation,
31 They will come and declare His righteousness to a people who will be born,
That He has done this.
We impact ongoing generations
Psalm 37:25
I have been young, and now am old;
Yet I have not seen the righteous forsaken,
Nor his descendants begging bread.
26 He is ever merciful, and lends;
And his descendants are blessed.
Psalm 112:1
Praise the LORD!
Blessed is the man who fears the LORD,
Who delights greatly in His commandments?
2 His descendants will be mighty on earth;
The generation of the upright will be blessed.
3 Wealth and riches will be in his house,
And his righteousness endures forever.
Our sin actions can impact generations of our descendants.
Numbers 14:18
‘The LORD is longsuffering and abundant in mercy, forgiving iniquity and transgression; but He by no means clears the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children to the third and fourth generation.’
1 Kings 2:4
“that the LORD may fulfil His word which He spoke concerning me, saying, ‘If your sons take heed to their way, to walk before Me in truth with all their heart and with all their soul,’ He said, ‘you shall not lack a man on the throne of Israel.’
Repent, stop the sin and be cleansed!
Our descendants need to walk correctly to inherit. They can walk in the landmark territory established but their own actions will determine how they will be blessed in that land.
This is a time that the Lord wants us to understand clearly the need to be about the work He has for us in the territory (the sphere of influence) we are to operate in.
These are the words I receive as I type
“This is a time of great change son where I am moving many of my children into the land they were meant to possess. I wish them to understand that this has been preordained and much work has gone before hand to establish boundaries so let my children be blessed now, let them understand what it is I am giving them to operate in and let them walk in Kingdom power. Watch as I release much blessing now and a statement is made by my children.
It is time for this change to occur and the world to see My glory shine through My children in a way it hasn’t for many generations. Let the righteous stand and let the blameless command. Let the foundations be laid for the generations ahead. It is time.”
Isaiah 65:23
They shall not labour in vain,
Nor bring forth children for trouble;
For they shall be the descendants of the blessed of the LORD,
And their offspring with them.
