We are expected to imitate and become Christ like.  In doing this however we must be close to God so we know that we are imitating the right things.

Throughout scripture this idea of imitating comes up. Paul uses it a lot.

1 Corinthians 11:1

Imitate me, just as I also imitate Christ.

Hebrews 6:12

that you do not become sluggish, but imitate those who through faith and patience inherit the promises.

We have been given the example of Jesus and Paul to imitate.  We are expected to push in as there is major blessing in this closeness and the path to this closeness is helped through imitation.

Philippians 4:9

The things which you learned and received and heard and saw in me, these do, and the God of peace will be with you.

Philippians 3:17

Brethren, join in following my example, and note those who so walk, as you have us for a pattern.

So with these verses we are to learn from our brothers past and present.  We learn from those who we know have or currently walk close to God.  You know them for their actions and their walk.

Let us watch well and imitate.  Let us imitate Jesus and His walk.

We have been given so many examples in the word as this is something He wants us to understand, it is essential if you want to walk in the kingdom and all it has.

Vision

As I type this the Lord gives me a vision of a pack of cards face down in a pile.  He turns the top card over and points and then He turns the next card over and points.  It is the same card two Kings.  He then turns the next card over and it is a Jack.  I then see a cross through the Jack.

“Son you are to imitate me so that you walk as a King in the land not as the enemy’s puppet.  He will try and come from the same pack so that you feel you are in the right deck but understand I need closeness to me so that we are the same. One.”

He brings to mind Philippians 2:5

Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus,

6 who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God?

(from my notes 27-7-14)

Romans 12:2

Be not conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind so that you may prove what is that good, perfect and acceptable will of God.

The Lord talking to me really clearly this morning:

Revelation When God was walking with Adam he was walking in the mind.

I am now hearing him more and more like Adam heard him and we can all have that.

He walked in the natural with Adam as well at times.

When the fall occurred the mind connection was cut because he needed redeeming which we get through Jesus.

As we get close to him he opens up this mind connection like Adam had pre fall.  But this closeness requires the blood of Jesus to wash away our sins so we can be like Adam pre sin in the garden.

Renewal of the mind as He wants to be one with us.  Let us imitate and as we do this the oneness becomes a real position we hold in Him.

We see the idea of imitation in the Old Testament.  We see that this can be a tool of the enemy (a Jack) to try and take us of path.

Exodus 7:11

But Pharaoh also called the wise men and the sorcerers; so the magicians of Egypt, they also did in like manner with their enchantments.

12 For every man threw down his rod, and they became serpents. But Aaron’s rod swallowed up their rods.

So the enemy copied what God had given Moses but God swallowed them up.

And so it shall be every time the enemy copies something The Lord gives us then our God will swallow it up if we are in His will and about His business.

This was the revelation given to me one morning and it excites me. He is in control.

Exodus 8:6

So Aaron stretched out his hand over the waters of Egypt, and the frogs came up and covered the land of Egypt.

7 And the magicians did so with their enchantments, and brought up frogs on the land of Egypt.

The enemy will imitate to try and dilute the power of what The Lord is doing. I have seen this in ministry. I have seen this in Christians walk.

18 Now the magicians so worked with their enchantments to bring forth lice, but they could not. So there were lice on man and beast.

19 Then the magicians said to Pharaoh, “This is the finger of God.” But Pharaoh’s heart grew hard, and he did not heed them, just as the LORD had said.

In this case they couldn’t imitate and God showed them it was Him so the magicians acknowledged it was God.

It is important that you are hearing the voice of God and not the enemy. A number of people are extremely spiritual and they do hear but it can be difficult for discernment if they are not walking close to the Lord. Don’t get caught in the position of being a Jack in the hand.

In the above Old Testament example Moses had been brought to a position of being close to God and He was clearly hearing.

Psalm 17:15

As for me, I will see Your face in righteousness; I shall be satisfied when I awake in Your likeness.

I love this verse as it encaptures what He is asking us to do.  Let us become like Him.

Do you notice how The Lord finds the deepest parts in you that need healing, fixing and correcting.  He brings them out and you fight against your soul for these to be overcome.  But through this we become Christ like as he moves us closer and closer to his image.

Jesus Christ gave us the example to imitate. Let’s do it!
