It is a foundational block that we obey the Lord because without this He won’t move us on. How often have we missed out on what is written for us because we didn’t obey Him.

Lamentations 3:40

Let us search out and examine our ways, and turn back to the LORD;

41 Let us lift our hearts and hands To God in heaven.

Yes amen. Show me the things I need to get right. A trial will in some cases highlight what has to be put right in your life.  What foundational blocks within me have to be corrected where my obedience is required. Show me Lord.

I repent and are cleansed by the blood of Jesus and then I walk in obedience.

Joshua 7:20

And Achan answered Joshua and said, “Indeed I have sinned against the LORD God of Israel, and this is what I have done:

21 “When I saw among the spoils a beautiful Babylonian garment, two hundred shekels of silver, and a wedge of gold weighing fifty shekels, I coveted them and took them. And there they are, hidden in the earth in the midst of my tent, with the silver under it.”

22 So Joshua sent messengers, and they ran to the tent; and there it was, hidden in his tent, with the silver under it.

23 And they took them from the midst of the tent, brought them to Joshua and to all the children of Israel, and laid them out before the LORD.

24 Then Joshua, and all Israel with him, took Achan the son of Zerah, the silver, the garment, the wedge of gold, his sons, his daughters, his oxen, his donkeys, his sheep, his tent, and all that he had, and they brought them to the Valley of Achor.

25 And Joshua said, “Why have you troubled us? The LORD will trouble you this day.” So all Israel stoned him with stones; and they burned them with fire after they had stoned them with stones.

26 Then they raised over him a great heap of stones, still there to this day. So the LORD turned from the fierceness of His anger. Therefore the name of that place has been called the Valley of Achor to this day.

The Lord protects us through obedience

Achan had let sin in. He had taken some of the accursed things which I believe gave rights to the enemy. The Lord was looking for obedience from all in the camp and the lack of obedience was the sin being let in. That’s why it had to be destroyed, The Lord was sending a message to the camp to obey Him so that He could protect them.

Leadership requires tough decisions at times for the good of all.

God loves his children and He didn’t want to be put in this position.

Let’s not put Him there. Let’s obey Him when He gives us instruction.

 Jeremiah 7:23

“But this is what I commanded them, saying, ‘Obey My voice, and I will be your God, and you shall be My people. And walk in all the ways that I have commanded you, that it may be well with you.’

God needs obedience so that He can use us and bless us.  This is fundamental for us to be carrying His full power.

Do it in the Spirit to get break through

Two spiritual examples of obedience

1) Moses and his staff being held up by Aaron and Hur until the battle had been won. His staff was not let down until total victory had been achieved.  Exodus 17:11-13.

2) Joshua 8:18 Then the LORD said to Joshua, “Stretch out the spear that is in your hand toward Ai, for I will give it into your hand.” And Joshua stretched out the spear that was in his hand toward the city.

Joshua 8:26 For Joshua did not draw back his hand, with which he stretched out the spear, until he had utterly destroyed all the inhabitants of Ai.

Both Moses and Joshua obeyed The Lord to the end in these cases. They were acknowledging that it was The Lord who was in control who had the victory. Not them. They did these spiritual acts in obedience because if they disobeyed in these cases then the victory would not have been there.  Let us walk in victory.

The symbolism in the Spirit was with these acts there was acknowledgement of who was in control. God gave them the victory through their obedience.

Father instruct us and we will obey no matter what it may look like in the natural.

For us to move forward into all he has for us we must learn to obey Him.  This is a key building block and it is not negotiable.  How often have been robbed of the blessing He has for us because we didn’t obey.
