THE LORD’S PRAYER (part two)

Thy Kingdom Come

 Jesus is telling us here to pray within this model prayer “Thy Kingdom Come”.  Why because he expects us to walk in it.

 

Luke 17:21

“nor will they say ”See here! Or See there!” For indeed, the kingdom of God is within you.”

 

1 Corinthians 4:20

For the kingdom of God is not in word but in power.

 

There is an expectation that with the kingdom of God within you we have a power.

 

Ephesians 3:20

Now to him is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us.

We have all the power but it is about our level of faith, that we walk in it as a reality not a thought or idea. He gives us according to our belief. Our sphere of influence and kingdom power grows according to our faith.

When we have the kingdom of God within we walk in His power.  We walk in faith.

 

2 Peter 1:5 -12

But also for this very reason, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue, to virtue knowledge, to knowledge self-control, to self control, perseverance, to perseverance godliness, to godliness brotherly kindness and to brotherly kindness love

For if these things are yours and abound, you will be neither barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.

For he who lacks these things is shortsighted, even to blindness, and has forgotten that he was cleansed from his old sins.

Therefore, brethren be even more diligent to make you call and election sure, for if you do these things you will never stumble;

For so an entrance will be supplied to you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and saviour Jesus Christ.

 

All these verses suggest that the kingdom of God is not something we wait until we die until we enter.  These suggest it is something we can enter now. It is within us and this is why Jesus says pray Thy Kingdom come.

 

Mark 9:1

Assuredly, I say to you that there are some standing here that will not taste death till they see the kingdom of God present with power.

Jesus was talking to the disciples and they are all dead now.  But Jesus told them to expect that some of them wouldn’t die until they saw the kingdom of God present with power.  We know that they walked in power so we know this kingdom is available within us now. With the resurrection and the victory the kingdom of God came.  We are able to walk in it now. Thy kingdom come.

 

But Jesus goes onto say in Mark

Mark 10:15

Assuredly I say to you whoever doesn’t receive the kingdom of God as a little child will by no means enter it.

We must not try to rationalize it but accept it as a child.  It is real and it is available within us now

 

Move forward in this kingdom wisdom.

Luke 9:62

But Jesus said to them “no one having put his hand to the plough, and looking back is fit for the kingdom of God.’

 

Philippians 3:12-14

Not that I have already attained, or am already perfected; but I press on, that I may lay hold of that for which Christ Jesus has also laid hold of me. Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead. I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.

 

We are expected to move on and we move on this year into the Kingdom. What is the

upward call but the kingdom of God which is within us.

 

1 Thessalonians 2:12

That you walk worthy of God who calls you into His own kingdom and glory.

We walk into the Kingdom of God.  Thy kingdom come.

 

 

Thy Will Be Done

 

Colossians 4:12

Epaphras, who is one of you, a bondservant of Christ, greets you, always labouring fervently for you in prayers that you may stand perfect and complete in all the will of God.

What a prayer for others and ourselves

 

In John 4:34  Jesus said to them

My food is to do the will of Him who sent Me, and to finish His work.

 

He later says in John 17:4

“I have glorified You on the earth.  I have finished the work which You have given Me to do”

 

He did the Father’s will.  He finished the work.

 

What is his will for your life

Be in your calling be in what is written in your books, archives, recordings and scrolls.

John 17:5 And now, O Father, glorify Me together with Yourself, with the glory which I had with You before the world was.

These books, archives, recordings and scrolls were written before we were born we are here to complete them and to glorify Him so we are one with Him.

This is to be in His will.

 

Romans 8 26:27

Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groaning’s which cannot be uttered. Now he who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He makes intercession for the saints according to the will of God.

 

It is Thy will be done not my will.

By praying in tongues our Spirit connects with heaven and a supernatural communication occurs restoring our spirit to His. (Psalm 23 restoreth our souls).  This tongues communication is a step to bring us in line with His will.  This is where the supernatural occurs and alignment happens.

 

Hebrew 9:8

.. the Holy Spirit indicating this, that the way into the Holiest of All was not yet made manifest while the first tabernacle was still standing.

For him to be in us and for all of us to be in him the tabernacle (the flesh) must not be still standing. If our flesh is standing how can we be in His will? It is all of Him none of us.

 

When we get to this place. Wow we have Christ in us.  We have “All” (as in him).

 

So we choose to walk in His kingdom in His will.  This means being dead to ourselves and alive to Him.

One final point is if we are in His kingdom and in His will then we are legally in the right place and the accuser has no room to stop us.  This means our prayers are on the right platform and they will be answered.

 

THIS IS WHY JESUS TELLS US TO PRAY THESE LINES.
